The MSJC soccer team kicked off their 2026 season on Friday night with a tough 3-1 loss at home to Long Beach City.
The Vikings got on the board first as they were able to score in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Eagles evened the match up at 1-1 in the 31st minute when Jalyssa Arias found the back of the net on a penalty kick.

Austin Foster, Freshman, San Bernardino Valley College
Austin has been a pleasant surprise this season for SBVC. Hailing from Beaumont High School, Austin has surprised not only his coaches but also himself with his ability to move up to the collegiate race distances of 4 miles and 8K.
This past weekend at the UCR Highlander 8K (4.97 miles) Austin ran a solid 27:46 to place 73rd out of 159 runners from NCAA D2 and 3 schools as well as junior colleges from Arizona and Nevada. "Austin showed his talents in the season opener with a wicked kick that really showed his speed," said head coach Jim Ratigan. "Austin is a quiet young man with a lot of heart when it comes to racing. Austin is not afraid to get out of his comfort zone and mix it up with the top runners in the race. We look forward to seeing Austin compete for a travel spot for So Cal and State."

Madison Enriquez, Freshman, Chaffey College
Marquez placed 15th overall at the BC invite with a 21:12.96 setting a college PR for her as well as a school record. Mady (as she goes by) is returning to running after not running since high school graduation in 2018. As a result of just returning to running after a 6 year period of no running Mady has shown steady improvement this season and looking to qualifying for State Champs.
